Capital Gains is imposed on those selling a capital asset. Currently a rate of 2.1% on the people falling under the income group of under $50,000 and at a rate of 1.9% for people under the income group of over $200,000. I believe in smaller government and decreasing the Capital gains. For groups of under 50,000 I would decrease to 1.4% and income group of $200,000 I would decrease to 1.6%. I would also exempt new businesses that move to the state of Florida for the first 2 years.
Citrus Trade Agreement
Florida Citrus commission approved 4.6-Million-dollar relief 2014-2015 season. There are growing concerns of the lack of sales. Falling by 6.4% in the 2013/2014 season which marks the 13th straight season decline. In order to save this industry and its farmers we must acquire new accounts with clients not only in the Florida but around the country. Florida Citrus is like no other and it is the back bone of Florida. We will be meeting with consumer businesses all around the country and acquiring a commitment for Florida Citrus.
Floridians must stay vigilant, and we must work together hand and hand with communities from which religious extremism can sometimes emerge. As Governor I will work with President Trump and the federal government to insure we are sharing vital intelligence to prevent attacks.
- Double the current budget to almost ten million, because one attack is to many.
- Secure our state by hiring an additional 30 counter terrorism officers.
- Create nine counterterrorism squads assigned in regions throughout the state.
- Expand joint terrorism task force in Miami.
I think it’s time for some major education reform in our state. Florida should lead the nation in facilitating a real plan on how we teach our children and not just k-12 but inclusive of higher education as well. I want to empower our young adults and provide options that won’t incur insurmountable debt. I want to provided teachers with more tools and options for their classrooms keeping in mind not all children learn the same. Our educators spend hundreds of hours teaching our children it’s time we take care of them.
The total cost of education in Florida is $19.75 billion, $7,176 per pupil and 2.77 million k-12 enrollments, that number should remain the same without increasing. We need to reevaluate the current programs and make sure we are spending tax payer’s money properly.
Here is what I want to do, I want to allow parents to choose the school they want their kids to attend private or public and allow federal dollars to follow the student. Students should be able to attend a Two-year, Four-year college or get a trades skill from our vocational and technical colleges.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
Florida is one of ten states that have personal injury protection (no fault) auto insurance. In 2012 Florida passed HB 119. PIP provides injured drivers up to $10,000 in immediate medical coverage and 2500 for non-emergency in lieu of establishing fault through the court system. This is all contingent on the victim seeking medical attention within 14 days of the accident. These insurance companies are the only one benefiting from this. I would give car accident victims 28 days to seek medical attention and bring the non-emergency coverage to 5000.
Our veterans deserve the medical care and support promised when they served our country. The long drives and the lack of timely service by our VA hospital must end. Under my administration Florida will lead the country in VA Reform putting our Vets first by enforcing the current policy’s and making changes to insure our vets have the proper care. I will launch a statewide program that will educate our vets on the services they have available to them. I will also hold VA hospitals and organizations accountable.
